New Drawings

Experimenting..... with some abstract charcoal drawings.
I feel so peaceful making them & I feel like its some of my strong work.

They are made on heavy weight bristol.

I am playing around, mixing, shaping my drawings with oil pastel, oil paint & charcoal.
I posted some on Etsy, but I feel like I should get my own website, so my next goal is to set up
a website with my work. I will give myself till the end of November to get one.

Here is one of my new charcoal pieces, enjoy!

New Work

I've been working on some abstract oil paintings lately for some juried shows.
We will see how that goes, but I forgot to add new pieces of work to my Etsy shop.
Here are a few acrylic paintings that I will post soon.

Enjoy.

Cleaning Working Area

Today I am cleaning my work area.
I don't look froward to it, but when I am done I feel more relaxed & worry free in a way.

I threw away many empty paint tubes, pens that didn't work & elementary quizzes (why did I have these?)

Well, either way the good thing about this cleaning marathon (it's feeling that way) is that I found this cool painting I did while in Collage. The picture is not of good quality, but I really like it. It's giving me ideas for my next project.

The show on Friday was great, I met a great artist from the Greenleaf Art Center that told me

about a group show & open studios on the 23rd, which should be cool.

Well, I am off to finish cleaning, don't get to excited for me, but I am giving myself a small treat of watching "Shall We Dance"with Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers afterward :)

Art Show Today in Wicker Park/Bucktown

Today I am showing some of my work at the Flat Iron Arts Building for the
First Friday show, I have some new artwork, but this time I am only showing my paintings.

I am thinking of submitting my collages to a Juried show taking place in November, that way I have something going on every month & hopefully I will find more showings that appeal to me.

If you are in Chicago today, feel free to stop by the show 10/02/2009

Fall

Today I woke up & though about my accomplishments for September.
As an artist, I got a lot of work done, but I need to update my resume & pictures.
I have made it a goal to try to show more of my work for the months to come.

Some might say that in these times, art does not blossom as it did in prior years, it is hard for art lovers to buy...they might be right, but my feelings of creating...painting have not faded. Actually it has made me create more of my quality work.

I feel right now is the best opportunity to work on my business plan, have it on paper, meet other artist & expand my work.

Time & my effort will tell where my work will go, for right now, I am enjoying my freedom :)

Oh & this Chicago sweater weather is the best, I am going for a walk.

Feeling Abstract

Today I spend a few hours painting 3 abstract oil paintings.
I finish one, but the other two will need some work.
I've been having the feeling of painting more abstract pieces lately.

Last night I worked on some collages, & finished only one as well.
Here is a picture of a painting I finished about a week ago.

Enjoy

Glazing

Today I bought some well needed frames for some of my paintings.
They are great solid wood frames made in Mexico.
I am currently working on glazing some of my collages & painting.
Trying to finish some new work for the first Friday show taking place on October 2nd.
You should attend if you are in the area, or if you are visiting at the time.

Getting some good use of my palettes lately.
Where oil paint & acrylic meet :)
